Mulpha Australia is a generous supporter
to children's charities, medical research, Great Barrier
Reef scientific projects, education and the arts in
Australia.
ZooXTM Fund
The ZooXTM Fund is an initiative of the Great
Barrier Reef Foundation (GBRF), an independent organisation
which brings together the financial strength of Australia's
business community to assist marine scientists find
ways of preserving Australia's greatest natural wonder.
Mulpha Australia is one of five inaugural patrons of
the ZooXTM Fund which was launched in February
2007 and will instigate scientific research projects
aimed at protecting the Great Barrier Reef from the
ravages of climate change, reportedly the most significant
and immediate threat to the Reef. As water temperatures
heat up, coral expels tiny microscopic organisms - zooxanthellae
- which give the coral colour and life, or they disintegrate.
The loss of zooxanthellae leads to coral bleaching.
Coral loses colour and sometimes dies. There are many
kinds of zooxanthellae and some are more thermally resistant
than others. An objective of the Fund will be to map
which organisms are the most robust and are best able
to recover from a bleaching event, and subsequently
better and more quickly work out how to positively protect
the Reef. Meanwhile Mulpha Australia, through its acclaimed
Great Barrier Reef resort, Hayman, also contributes
to the work of the GBRF via a Hayman Reef Levy introduced
in December 2005.

FSHD Global Research Foundation
The FSHD Global Research Foundation is an Australian not-for-profit
organisation dedicated to finding a treatment and cure for
Facio-Scapulo-Humeral Dystrophy (FSHD). FSHD is the second most common
form of muscular dystrophy in adults and the third most common genetic
hereditary disease seen in skeletal muscle. The FSHD Global Research
Foundation invests 100 per cent of all donations into research projects
aimed at finding a cure or treatment for FSHD. At any one time the FSHD
Global Research Foundation is funding several such research projects around the
world, with a particular encouragement of Australian-based FSHD
research. While FSHD is one of the most common muscular dystrophy types,
research into it is said to be 20 years behind that of the most common form. The
overarching goal of the Foundation is to address this inequity
and quicken the pace on finding a treatment or cure for FSHD. Monica
Ellis (pictured) is an Ambassador for the Foundation. Mulpha
Australia is proud to be supporting the vital work of the FSHD
Global Research Foundation.
Messel Endowment
The Professor Harry Messel International Science School
at The University of Sydney is an outstanding
educational science program designed to encourage Year
11 and 12 students from Australia and around the world
to pursue careers in science, technology and engineering.
The ISS, established in 1962 by Emeritus Professor Harry
Messel AC CBE, now has more than 4000 graduates many
of whom have gone onto major achievements in science
and related areas. The ISS is run biennially by the
Science Foundation for Physics and is free to all attending
students. Mulpha Australia's ongoing support has helped
to ensure the ISS can continue in perpetuity. The Mulpha Leadership Award is presented to the ISS
student who has not only demonstrated academic ability but also shown
diplomacy, tact and empathy when dealing with individuals from different
cultures and countries. The 2011 award recipient, Joelene Puntonoriero from Noonamah in the Northern Territory, is pictured receiving her award from Mulpha Australia Chief Financial Officer, Greg Dyer. Joelene has been selected for her warmth, grace and poise, inclusive nature, working well with others, quietly confident style of leadership and for rising to the occasion and engaging with others.
Museum of Contemporary Art
Mulpha Australia's Bimbadgen Estate has been the exclusive
wine sponsor of the Museum of Contemporary Art since
2001. Sharing a mutual respect for the arts and an appreciation
for Australian art and wine, the relationship between
the MCA and Bimbadgen Estate is a natural fusion of
Australian cultures and, from this relationship, specially
labelled Bimbadgen wines were born. A percentage of
sales of these wines is donated back to the Museum of
Contemporary Art for educational programs. The MCA holds a significant collection
of some 5000 Australian and international artworks brought
together since the late 1960s. The collection forms
one of the core functions of the MCA activities playing
a major role in innovative exhibitions, touring projects
and education and outreach programs.

Project 88
Mulpha Sanctuary Cove (Developments) Pty Limited
is a proud partner of Project 88 - a house and land donation
supporting the Foundations of former rugby union Wallaby, George Gregan
and champion golfer, Adam Scott. This beautiful home was built by By
Design and the Queensland Master Builders on land donated by Sanctuary
Cove. Many other companies also contributed to the development and
fit-out of the house. Project 88 was successfully auctioned in March
2008 raising $AU1 million for the charities. Funds generated from this
project are being used by the George Gregan Foundation to continue
building all access playgrounds for children's hospitals throughout
Australia and to fund a vital research position in the area of
paediatric neurology. The Adam Scott Foundation is using the funds to
provide opportunities in life for Australian children and youth.
